Acting High Commissioner Meets KEPROBA CEO to Strengthen Sri Lanka–Kenya Trade and Investment Cooperation
The Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Kenya, Ms. Ruvini De Silva, met with the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency (KEPROBA), Mr. Floice Mukabana, and the KEPROBA team on 12 August 2026 at the KEPROBA headquarters in Nairobi.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation between Sri Lanka and Kenya, with particular emphasis on expanding business-to-business linkages and creating new opportunities for the private sectors of both countries.
A key focus of the discussions was Sri Lanka Expo 2027, which will be held in Colombo from 14–16 January 2027. The Acting High Commissioner briefed the KEPROBA team on the objectives of the Expo and highlighted the opportunities it would provide for Kenyan exporters, investors, businesses and other stakeholders to explore partnerships with Sri Lankan companies and gain access to new markets.
In this regard, discussions were held on the participation of the Kenyan business community at two Sri Lanka Expo 2027 briefing sessions, which will be organised by the Sri Lanka High Commission in Nairobi on 25 September 2026 and Mombasa on 2 October 2026. The briefing sessions are intended to provide Kenyan businesses with information on the Expo, identify potential areas of commercial interest and encourage greater participation from the Kenyan private sector.
The discussions also explored potential areas for enhanced cooperation in sectors of mutual interest, including agriculture, tea, manufacturing, tourism, logistics, healthcare and value-added exports. The importance of facilitating business-to-business engagements and strengthening private-sector partnerships was emphasised as a means of translating the longstanding bilateral relationship between Sri Lanka and Kenya into tangible economic opportunities.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of Sri Lanka and Kenya to strengthening commercial relations and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships. The Sri Lanka High Commission looks forward to continued collaboration with KEPROBA in promoting Sri Lanka Expo 2027 and creating greater opportunities for businesses, exporters and investors from both countries.
