Sri Lanka Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Bilateral Relations with Rwanda
Ms. Ruvini De Silva, Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Kenya, participated in a meeting held on 08 October 2026 at the Nairobi Serena Hotel with Hon. (Dr.) Usta Kaitesi, State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Rwanda, Hon. Damien Murwanashyaka, Minister of Infrastructure of Rwanda, and the High Commissioner of Rwanda to Kenya, together with Non-Resident Ambassadors and High Commissioners accredited to Rwanda from Kenya.
During the meeting, Ms. De Silva appreciated the initiative taken by the High Commission of Rwanda in Kenya to convene the diplomatic representatives accredited to Rwanda, providing a valuable platform for engagement, dialogue and the exploration of avenues for enhanced bilateral and regional cooperation.
Ms. De Silva highlighted the friendly relations between Sri Lanka and Rwanda and reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest. In this regard, she recalled the meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Sri Lanka and Rwanda held on the sidelines of the Raisina Dialogue 2026 in New Delhi. She also noted that a visit by the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka to Rwanda is expected in December 2026, which would provide a further opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties and explore new avenues for cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen diplomatic engagement and explore prospects for closer cooperation between Rwanda and its international partners accredited from Nairobi.
