The Vesak celebration at the Nairobi Buddhist Temple was conducted under the guidance of Venerable Yatirawana Wimala Thero on 17 May 2026. The programme commenced with an Introduction to Buddhism programme, followed by the observance of Sil by devotees. The day’s religious activities concluded with devotional Bhakthi Geetha singing by Sri Lankan children in Kenya trained by Ms. Nadeeka Amarasinghe and performances by Kenyan children, and the light offering ceremony. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were generously provided by the Sri Lankan community in Kenya, while evening tea was hosted by the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Nairobi.
