Ms. Betty Karimi of Recolte Limited Pays Courtesy Call on Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka
Ms. Betty Karimi, Founder and Managing Director of Recolte Limited, paid a courtesy call on the Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Nairobi, Ms. Ruvini De Silva, at the High Commission on 27 July 2026.
During the cordial meeting, Ms. Karimi and the Acting High Commissioner discussed opportunities to strengthen trade and business linkages between Sri Lanka and Kenya, with particular emphasis on promoting Sri Lanka Expo 2027, scheduled to be held in Colombo in January 2027.
The discussions focused on the High Commission's upcoming business briefing sessions to promote the Expo, which will be held on 25 September 2026 in Nairobi and 02 October 2026 in Mombasa. The Acting High Commissioner briefed Ms. Karimi on the objectives of the Expo, highlighting its role as Sri Lanka's premier international trade exhibition and a platform for fostering partnerships in sectors including manufacturing, agriculture, tea, apparel, gems and jewellery, ICT, tourism, renewable energy, and logistics.
Ms. Karimi expressed her interest in supporting the promotional initiatives and exploring avenues to encourage the participation of Kenyan businesses and entrepreneurs at Sri Lanka Expo 2027. Both sides also exchanged views on enhancing business-to-business engagement and creating greater opportunities for collaboration between the private sectors of Sri Lanka and Kenya.
During the meeting, the Acting High Commissioner also congratulated Ms. Karimi on the successful launch of the SHEconomy Summit in Kenya in May 2026. As the Summit Convener, Ms. Karimi has positioned the initiative as a platform for advancing economic transformation by empowering women entrepreneurs and business leaders, with a focus on fostering sustainable economic growth and investment.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to continue working together to strengthen commercial ties and promote mutually beneficial partnerships between Sri Lanka and Kenya.
